Services set for deceased firefighter
A Chicago firefighter killed fighting a restaurant fire will be remembered later this week during a wake and funeral.
The wake for Firefighter Christopher Wheatley is set for Thursday at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn.
The funeral service is scheduled for the same location on Friday, followed by a funeral mass at St. John Fisher Parish on Chicago's southwest side.
Fire officials say Wheatley was carrying about 75 pounds of equipment when he fell about 35 feet while responding to a grease-chute fire at Avec Restaurant. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in very critical condition and pronounced dead early Monday.
