Residents questioned about missing boy's stepmom

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Investigators looking into the disappearance of a 7-year-old Oregon boy are trying to determine whether an adult was with the boy's stepmother on the morning she took him to school.

The Oregonian newspaper reported that investigators asked some Portland residents over the weekend whether they saw Terri Moulton Horman in her pickup on June 4 -- the morning Kyron Horman vanished from Skyline School -- and whether her friend DeDe Spicher was with her.

Residents who live in an area about four miles from the school received a questionnaire that included photos of the white pickup truck, photos of Terri Horman and photos of Spicher. They were asked whether they had seen any of them between 8:45 a.m. -- when Horman told investigators she last saw Kyron at the school -- and 1 p.m.

Though Horman appears to be the focus of the investigation, the sheriff's office has not called her a suspect or a "person of interest."

Investigators have said they were resuming a ground search based on new tips that were received. A grand jury has been questioning potential witnesses as part of the investigation.

The Multnomah County sheriff's office said it planned to release "certain case details" on Wednesday that may aid in the search for Kyron. Lt. Mary Lindstrand declined to provide specifics.

Photos of Terri Horman and the pickup were released two weeks into the investigation, accompanied by a request for information about their whereabouts June 4.

Residents who got the recent questionnaire told the newspaper they could not provide much information to deputies.

"We had not seen either of those people or that vehicle," said James Emerson, who also gave searchers permission to check his six-acre property.
