Police: Stacy Peterson search held near Galesburg

GALESBURG -- Illinois State Police involved in the Stacy Peterson investigation say they've searched an area near Galesburg.

Sgt. Thomas Burek says investigators were acting on a tip, but the Aug. 3 search didn't turn up anything.

Burek says he can't say what investigators were looking for, but it wasn't necessarily a body.

He says the search was related to a tip that led investigators to a remote area near Peoria in June. That search also didn't turn up anything.

Burek declined to give further details.

Stacy Peterson is the fourth wife of former suburban Chicago police officer Drew Peterson. He's awaiting trial for the murder of a previous wife.

Authorities say he's a suspect in the disappearance of Stacy Peterson who went missing in 2007.

Drew Peterson has denied any wrongdoing.
