No one injured in Palatine fire

No one was injured after a fire broke out in the trash room of a downtown Palatine condominium building. Firefighters at 2:37 a.m. Tuesday responded to the Providence Building at 50 N. Plum Grove Road and found heavy smoke and two Dumpsters on fire.

The sprinkler system activated and kept the fire in check, limiting damage to the Dumpsters, sprinkler system components and some trash room wiring, authorities said. Crews were on the scene within two minutes of receiving the call and residents were allowed to return home about an hour later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
