We must reclaim balance of power in our government
Our Founding Fathers in their infinite wisdom set up our Democratic Republic in a manner that allows a division of powers. That's why there are three branches of government - the courts, the Congress and the president. It's called the balance of power. Designed so that no one group can take over and ignore the rest of the people.
Unfortunately, in 2008, the voters put one group in charge of everything.
Some of us are just beginning to see what a mistake this was. No one party should ever have that much control over our lives.
If you need examples, try thinking of Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia as examples of what I mean. Anyone who says or thinks that can't happen here is very foolish.
I don't care which party you support or which ideology is yours. You can be conservative or liberal or independent. No single party or line of thought should ever be in total control of everyone else.
Consider this. In 2000, G.W. Bush came into office and Republicans had both houses of Congress and the courts. And they did almost nothing meaningful with their control. They were diverted by the Sept. 11 attacks. But still did nothing for the country itself.
Now we have the liberals in charge and they are trying to run roughshod over everyone who doesn't agree with them.
Who is right or wrong doesn't matter. Neither side should be able to dictate to all the rest of us, since neither side has a 100 percent majority.
So, in November we have a chance to restore the balance and I hope the voters will do just that. Anyone who is "in" voted out. Anyone "out" vote in. The politicians should have their egos bruised and their faith in themselves shaken at every election.
