Prevent copper thefts by switching to PVC

Thanks for the heads up on the theft of copper: pipe, gutters, roofing, et al.

It's time for villages, towns and cities - and plumbing unions - to alter their building codes to accommodate PEX flexible plastic tubing (pipe), or whatever brand name it might be.

If it passes a use test, use it. I don't sell or install it, but it's being used now to run radiant floor heating. I am aware of it and how it can more easily and less expensively work to carry water throughout a home.

Radiant heating is hot water. It's the same hot water used in your shower, kitchen and bath sinks, the dishwasher and washing machine... potable water.

Just a few years ago, the fight was over iron pipe vs. copper, cast iron vs. plastic (PVC) for drains, PVC for hot and cold water.

Sure it too can be stolen, but for what gain?
