Crayola going greener with 15-acre Pa. solar farm
EASTON, Pa. -- Crayola crayons are going to be a lot greener.
Crayola LLC on Thursday unveiled a 15-acre solar panel farm in a field behind its headquarters in Easton, Pa.
The company says its 26,000 solar panels will annually produce 1.9 megawatts of electricity. It says that's enough power to produce a third of the 3 billion crayons it makes each year in colors ranging from red, yellow and blue to gold, copper and silver.
The project was funded in part by $1.5 million in federal stimulus money.
