Burglar gets away with weed trimmer

Residents on the 1200 block of Yale Avenue in Arlington Heights chased a thief carrying their weed trimmer down the street early Wednesday morning.

Police said the residents heard a noise in the driveway around 3:30 a.m. and saw a man had gotten into their unlocked closet in the carport and pulled out their lawn equipment. The chase ended when the thief got into a vehicle and drove away. Their snow thrower, lawn edger and leaf blower were left in the yard and on the driveway.

They described the thief as a white male, about 6 feet and 200 pounds, wearing a red T-shirt and tan pants.
