Bandits player to direct Loyola softball

Missy Beseres, a former standout pitcher at Penn State and member of the Chicago Bandits of National Professional Fastpitch has been tabbed head coach of the Loyola University softball program.

Beseres has spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Loyola and succeeds Yvette Healy, who left to take the head coach position at Wisconsin earlier this month.

"We hope to continue to build on the success of the program over the last several years," Beseres said.

Since joining the Loyola staff for the 2007 season, the Golden Valley, Minn., native has coached 18 players who have earned All-Horizon League honors.

"Missy has been a valued coach in our program the last four years and with her familiarity and relationships with our returning and incoming players, she will help our program maintain a consistency as we continue to strive for postseason play," said Dr. John Planek, director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
