Horwitz receives invite for national team

Lindsay Horwitz, a recent Warren graduate, was one of 32 women to receive an invitation to the USA Baseball Women's National Team Trials, scheduled to be held Aug. 2-5 in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.

The Women's Trials roster was selected following six regional tryouts held across the country throughout June and July. At the conclusion of trials, 18 players will be selected to the 2010 USA Baseball Women's National Team, which will compete in the 2010 IBAF Women's Baseball World Cup in Venezuela, from Aug. 12-22.

The team will be announced on www.USABaseball.com at the completion of trials on Aug. 5.

Horwitz, a right-handed pitcher, played freshman baseball for Warren. She played varsity softball as a junior and senior, earning all-conference honors as a second baseman both seasons.
