Visiting Nurse Association will offer smooth transition

The Visiting Nurse Association is a community health organization that provides a broad array of services in our federally-funded health centers for men, women and children with little or no health insurance. As a health care organization serving the greater Fox Valley area for over 90 years, it serves over 50,000 people per year.

Recently, the Kane County Health Department asked VNA to consider assuming the health department's WIC caseload and the family case management services in southern Kane County. VNA has been a WIC provider for 30 years and currently serves one of the larger caseloads in the state.

Some Kane County Health Department FCM services have been co-located with VNA for about 10 years. While VNA does not currently have a grant to provide the specific FCM program, VNA does provide general case management services. Many WIC and FCM clients use VNA medical services and other programs. Additional WIC clients and FCM services are a natural fit with VNA's current operations.

VNA has the necessary infrastructure, expertise, experience, space, and energy to accomplish a prompt transition of these services. If called upon, we pledge our commitment to working with the Kane County Health Department to ensure an uninterrupted transition of these services for the people of Kane County.
