Wolves sign former IceHogs defenseman
The Chicago Wolves have signed Dave Phillips, a 22-year-old defenseman from England who made his North American hockey debut last season with their American Hockey League rivals, the Rockford IceHogs. Phillips appeared in 52 games with Rockford, collecting 6 assists and 52 penalty minutes. He also competed in six ECHL outings with the Toledo Walleye.
The Beverley, England, native previously spent three seasons in the Elite Ice Hockey League with the Hull Stingrays and Belfast Giants from 2006 to 2009. He set career highs during the 2008-09 campaign with Belfast, collecting 18 assists and 25 points in 54 outings, which matched a career most.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Wolves, who will host their 2010-11 home opener on Oct. 16 at Allstate Arena.
