WGN radio shuffles middays with McConnell, Williams back to back

Mike McConnell and John Williams are dividing up middays at personality-talk WGN 720-AM. Effective Monday, Aug. 9, McConnell will follow morning-drive host Greg Jarrett from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with Williams filling the slot until 3 leading into afternoon-drive host Garry Meier. "Mike and John back-to-back make an exceptionally strong team," said WGN Vice President and General Manager Tom Langmyer, "and our listeners will be well-served with the best in news, information and engaging conversation."

HBO joins danceHBO gets on the bandwagon of TV's ongoing dance craze with the documentary "El Espiritu de la Salsa," debuting at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, on the premium-cable channel. It looks at 10 New Yorkers as they prepare for a salsa competition, so expect both the music and the dancing to be better than the major network celebrity dance competitions.ABC in the 'Dark'As if "Bachelor Pad" weren't bad enough, ABC actually brings back the summer reality series "Dating in the Dark" at 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, on WLS Channel 7. The show separates men and women, then brings them together one pair at a time in a dark room to see if any sparks fly - with viewers peeking in via special camera lenses. The vastly superior ABC News reality series "Boston Med" has its series finale at 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, on Channel 7.'Russia' is topsEncore has a James Bond marathon going on today, and as Waste Watcher aficionados well know the high point is "From Russia With Love." Sean Connery, of course, is Bond, and Daniela Bianchi provides the love interest, but look out for Robert Shaw as a Soviet assassin. It's at 7:50 p.m. today on Encore.
