Womack misses out on N.C. chief job
Former Elgin Police Chief Lisa Womack fell short of the top cop spot in Greensboro, N.C.
According to myfox8.com, the website for the television station WGHP, the city introduced Kenneth Miller Monday afternoon its next chief.
Womack, who was chief in Elgin from August 2005 through this past April, and Miller, a 21-year veteran of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in North Carolina, were two finalists for the police chief position out of 200 applicants.
Womack also made the top 10 list for the police chief position in Seattle a few months ago.
She resigned on April 1 from Elgin after being placed on administrative leave in March.
Elgin leaders have refused to discuss reasons for her departure. Her six-month, $75,000 severance package will keep her on the city payroll through October.
