Former Loyola guard to play in Europe

J.R. Blount, a former standout guard and 2009 Loyola graduate, has signed a pro contract with the Leicester Riders of the British Basketball League.

Leicester finished with a 21-15 record in the BBL in 2009-10. Blount, a native of Milwaukee, will head overseas to begin his professional playing career at the end of this month.

Blount wrapped up his Rambler career ranked ninth on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,603 points, while also holding down 10th place on the assists chart with 313. He is one of only three players in Loyola history to average 10.0 or more points per game in each of his four seasons, and also one of only five players in Loyola annals to register over 1,500 points and 300 assists.

During his senior campaign in 2008-09, Blount contributed a team-best 14.1 points per game, to go along with 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists.
