Whitney's Green means going green

In response to your editorial asking what people here in Illinois can do to help the BP oil crisis, I would like to suggest that folks go green, especially in the fall election.

Green Party governor candidate Rich Whitney just last month toured the state by bicycle promoting alternative modes of transportation with his Sustainable Transportation Tour. Whitney obviously is willing to lead by example, and his campaign is gaining momentum as Americans witness the devastation of our oil addiction. Plus, he is dedicated to investing in better public transportation options and easing Illinois off our dependence on fossil fuels.

This fall Illinois has the chance to change the world by electing the first Green Party governor. It is time for a new economy in Illinois, a clean and green one that focuses on the production of renewable energy resources. Whether it is wind farms, solar energy or biodiesel, there are other options that we can and should start looking toward so that we do not have another oil spill ruining parts of our planet.

Rich Whitney is providing Illinois voters not only with another option on the ballot, but also an opportunity to keep Illinois and the rest of our planet beautiful.
