Local towns to celebrate Night Out
The official date for National Night Out is Aug. 3. Unless otherwise noted, events take place on Tuesday.
Aurora: The Georgetown Relief Efforts Neighborhood Organization will hold an evening of fun, games, food and music at 995 Long Grove Drive from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be free hot dogs, lemonade and chips, as well as live music, a magic show and McGruff the Crime Dog, will be on hand for the celebration.
Campton Hills: Join the Campton Hills Police Department's National Night Out celebration on School Road near Wasco Elementary School from 6 to 8 p.m. Children's identification cards will be handed out, squad cars will be available for residents to inspect and sit in, and the Kane County Mounted Rangers are scheduled to appear. A raffle will be held to benefit the Special Olympics. Tickets are currently on sale at the CHPD and are available anytime.
Kane County: The Kane County Forest Preserve District is hosting a Children's Bike Safety Course from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wasco School parking lot, 4N782 School Street, Wasco. There is no charge for the event, but reservations are required. Call the Community Affairs department of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County at (630) 444-3064.
• The Kane County Sheriff's Office is hosting a get together at its facility, 37W755 Rt. 38, in St. Charles, from 6 to 9 p.m. Join your neighbors, Sheriff Perez and the Kane County Sheriff's Office in taking a stand against crime during National Night Out.
North Aurora: Celebrate the 27th annual National Night Out with your friends and neighbors from 6 to 9:30 p.m. by organizing a block party or get-together. The Crime Prevention van, McGruff the Crime Dog and other officers will be on patrol that night, and will stop and visit as many neighborhoods as they can. Sugar Grove: Join the Montgomery Police Department along with the Montgomery, Sugar Grove, Aurora Township, Oswego and Bristol-Kendall Fire Departments at McDole Elementary School, 2901 Foxmoor Drive, in Montgomery from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. For more information, call the department at (630) 466-4526.
Yorkville: Join the Yorkville Police Department, Citizens Police Academy Alumni and the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department for an evening of games, family activities, food, demonstration and more. The celebration starts at 6 p.m. at Town Square Park, Route 47 and Main Street, and lasts until 9 p.m. Also, enjoy a free screening of "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" at Beecher Community Park, 908 Game Farm Road.
