Bikes on Parade part of Elgin's Art & Soul fest
The second annual Art & Soul on the Fox festival continues Sunday, Aug. 1, in downtown Elgin.
It features artists, local theater, musicians, poets and dancers.

Art & Soul on the Fox: Art For All hosts its second annual art show featuring more than 80 fine artists and artisans from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, in Elgin's downtown throughout DuPage Court, South Grove Avenue, Spring and Fulton streets.
It features canvas, sculpture, photography, jewelry, ceramics and mixed media. Admission is free.
The juried art show is sponsored by Art For All, with $1,000 in cash awards and, additionally up to $2,000 in awards given by the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission. The event's profits will once again benefit, by way of grant, future young artists. Learn more at artforall-elgin.com.
Bicycles On Parade - Art In Motion: The Elgin Community Network is pedalling out something new with its latest public art show, "Bicycles on Parade."
There will be a live auction at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. The public can bid to buy a hand-painted bicycle. Proceeds benefit neighborhood programs. A silent auction will be Sunday, Aug. 1.
Thousands of votes have already been cast for the "Community's Favorite Bike." In addition, Passport contest winners will pick up their prizes and the silent auction will include a Nintendo Wii, Taste of Elgin Basket, and many gift certificates. Learn more at elgin-ecn.org or gailborden.info.
Walkabout - Theater On Your Feet: The Elgin Cultural Arts Commission presents its third annual theater walk featuring five theater groups performing five short plays in five very different places.
This year's theme is "Hidden Places, Found Spaces" and will feature off-the-beaten path locations. Janus Theatre, Nothing Special Productions, Vex Theatre, Envision Theatre, and the Great American Artistic Consortium are performing.
The show continues Saturdays, Aug. 7 and 14, starting at 1 p.m., with tours every 20 minutes until 2:20 p.m. Admission is $15 at the door.
