Cantwell takes Stage 2 in Tour of Elk Grove
Australian Jonathan Cantwell, a member of team Fly V Australia, beat out nearly 100 cyclists to win Saturday's Stage 2 road race at the Alexian Brothers Tour of Elk Grove.
The 150K (93 mile) road race was the second leg of the three-stage men's professional race at the Tour of Elk Grove being held this weekend in Elk Grove Village.
New Zealand's Peter Latham, a member of the Bissell Pro Cycling Team, placed first in the Stage 1 time trial held Friday.
After the first two stages, Australian Karl Menzies, a member of team United HealthCare presented by Maxxis, was the overall men's pro race leader going into today's Stage 3. Menzies was also 2009 Tour of Elk Grove's overall winner of the men's three-stage pro race.
Today's final leg, a 110K (68.2 mile) criterium race that's held in a closed circuit loop, takes place at 3 p.m.
