Paul Lee appointed head of ABC Entertainment

NEW YORK -- ABC says that Paul Lee will take over as president of the ABC Entertainment Group, following the resignation of Stephen McPherson.

Lee, who was president of the ABC Family cable channel, will oversee both ABC studios and the ABC network programming.

In a statement Friday from Disney-ABC executive Anne Sweeney, she cited Lee's success at ABC Family as an indicator of what he can accomplish at the broadcast network.

The announcement comes days after the abrupt resignation of McPherson.
