Stary resigns from St. Charles North softball

St. Charles North softball coach April Stary has resigned to spend more time with her family.

Stary coached the North Stars to Upstate Eight Conference titles the past two seasons. St. Charles North reached the sectional finals in 2009 before getting upset by York in its regional opener this spring.

The North Stars went 29-4 this year and will return all 9 starters in 2011.

Stary did not immediately return voice and e-mail messages.

In an e-mail to the North Star softball boosters, Stary wrote: "It has come to my attention I will not have the time needed to coach your players to the best of their (and my) ability. Above all else, I do not want to see the team suffer in any way - they have too much talent and potential... the decision did not come easily."
