Time for action on Glen Ellyn center
I just returned home from the Ackerman Fitness Center. I could not walk on the multipurpose track this morning (July 24) because it was closed. Too much water was on it due to the leaking roof.
There were also a couple of buckets and towels on the gym floor to catch water. This problem has been going on since the facility opened. I first noticed it last winter when snow melted. This leakage has been occurring for almost seven months.
My questions: Would the Glen Ellyn Park District commissioners let this drag on for this amount of time if it were their private homes? What if they were in private business and this was their newly built factory?
Is this going to be an episode akin to the Glen Ellyn Library, where construction flaws were not addressed until it was too late to hold a contractor responsible and the taxpayers were left with the tab? Isn't the damage getting worse with every rain? What about ceiling tiles being ruined? What about mold and mildew? What about emerging health and safety issues? What about some effective corrective action?
