Are Obama, NAACP really that naive?

Shame on those members of the Obama team and the NAACP who overreacted to the edited and misleading blog of Shirley Sherrod's speech. Are they really so naive? Can they be even less computer-savvy than me?

Every day my e mail "In" box holds five or six messages from friends hoping to enlighten me about some social or political issue. Most of them are angry rants filled with selective facts and figures, assorted half-truths, outright lies and excerpted out-of-context comments of those they hope to defame. Like the Sherrod blog.

Whatever complaints some folk may have with the major media, they are far more trustworthy than most of those "informative" messages that arrive via e-mail, often authored by some anonymous source with an ax to grind.
