Cancer support groupAdvocate Condell Medical Center, along with leaders from the Libertyville Evangelical Free Church, has formed the Christian Cancer Survivors Support Group. The group will meet on the first Monday of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. at Condell's chapel, 801 S. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville. The first meeting is set for Monday, Aug. 2. "The group is a Christian community of cancer survivors and caregivers with a mission to provide a welcoming place to share joys and sorrows," said Condell's Vice President of Mission and Spiritual Care, the Rev. Fred Rajan. "We are seeking to be a source of support and strength during the journey." In addition to sharing each other's stories and struggles, the group will spend time in Bible study and prayer. Erhart Road, Mundelein. The event will run from 4 to 10 p.m., with dinner served from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Bingo, live music, a raffle and other activities are planned. Proceeds will benefit St. Mary's school. Meal tickets are $10 for adults, $4 for kids ages 5 through 10 or free for kids younger than 4.Gurnee FOP breakfastGurnee Fraternal Order of Police Social Lodge 266 will be ready to serve from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 15. That's when the FOP lodge will host a pancake breakfast on the finale of the Gurnee Days festival at Viking Park Dance Hall off Old Grand Avenue. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for those 55 and older and $3 for those age 12 and younger.
