Ramirez named National League Player of the Week

Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez has been named National League Player of the Week for the period of July 19 to 25.

Ramirez hit .360 (9-for-25) in six games last week and was tied for the Major League-lead with four home runs while his 10 RBI were good for second. The Dominican-born slugger recorded a .393 on-base percentage and an .840 slugging percentage during the week, collecting nine hits with five runs scored. On Tuesday, July 20th, Ramirez hit three homers for the fourth time in his career and tied a

career-high with seven RBI (also September 18, 2006 at Philadelphia) in a 14-7 win over Houston. It was the second multi-home run performance of the season for the 32-year-old veteran. Ramirez had two multi-RBI performances on the week and collected hits in all six games.

In July, Ramirez is hitting .351 with 24 RBI and a Major League-best nine home runs.
