Yo-yo art project plays to kids of all ages

Children, teens and adults are invited to participate in an art contest being sponsored by Gallery 28 in Geneva. "YO! Art on a Yo-yo" is a community art project designed to encourage creative thinking in children and adults of all ages.

Each participant is welcome to pick up a free unassembled and unfinished Yo-yo kit along with an entry form and easy assembly instructions at Gallery 28, located at 28 N. Fourth St., Geneva. Entrants may use their own yo-yo's if they wish. There is no cost to enter the contest, and trophies will be awarded based on popular vote on the entries per age group.

The deadline to submit a yo-yo is July 31, however yo-yos are being accepted and popular voting starts now and continues until Aug. 3, so the earlier a yo-yo is submitted, the more votes it could receive.

All entries must be art done on or to a standard sized yo-yo. The yo-yo may be functional or not. Anyone may enter. All entries must be accompanied by a parent or guardian signature indicating approval if contestant is under 18.

Drop off will be during regular gallery hours at Gallery 28.

Complete the art contest entry forms available online at gallery28.biz or at Gallery 28. You may enter as many Yo-Yo's in the contest as you like, but be sure to fill out a form for each entry. For more information, call (630) 845-9673 or e-mail info@gallery28.biz.
