Help save spirit of Pingree Grove
Residents of Pingree Grove who are enjoying the summer thus far may be unaware that the events have been cut because of a budget shortfall. Events such as music in the park, fall feast, car and craft show and, most of all, the traditional Christmas tree lighting.
People must realize that one of the most important things in a community is community spirit. These events are a means of blending old friendships with new ones. The village becomes one, and gives you a sense of belonging. At the Christmas tree lighting children have smiles that could melt the coldest of hearts.
There is much more to this event, as there is in the others. The Village of Pingree Grove appointed an events committee to try to raise funds to keep the traditional events from disappearing. I happen to be on the events committee, and can tell you it's a difficult time to be raising funds. Many stores in our neighboring towns have generously given toward our raffle drawings, but this is not enough to sustain the events.
I'm asking every household in Pingree Grove to please write a check for $10 made out to Village Of Pingree Grove with "Save The Events" written on the memo line. If you can't afford this amount, then anything will help to keep the events alive, and the smiles on the children that really look forward to them.
Checks can be dropped off at village hall, in the water bill drop off box, or mailed to Save The Events c/o Village of Pingree Grove, 14N042 Reinking Road, Pingree Grove, IL 60140.
