McHenry County deputy in three-vehicle crash

A McHenry County Sheriff's deputy was involved in a three-car crash in Bull Valley Wednesday while responding to an emergency call.

A news release from Sheriff Keith Nygren said at about 3:30 p.m. the deputy was traveling north on Greenwood Road with his emergency lights and siren activated.

A black Pontiac Grand Am traveling south on Greenwood had stopped for the squad and was struck from behind. A southbound Mitsubishi sedan pushed the Pontiac into the northbound lanes where it collided with the squad car. The deputy tried to avoid the crash and drove off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

All three drivers were taken to Woodstock Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.

Nygren said in the release that an investigation is currently underway. No charges have been filed.
