Burlington Central lines up golf outing

The Burlington Central High School Booster Club is seeking golfers for its annual golf outing, which is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 13 at The Oak Club of Genoa.

The cost for 18 holes of golf, including cart, is $100 per person. Sign-in will be held at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start and scramble format at noon. A cash bar will be open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a raffle and silent auction with Daily Herald Film Critic Dann Gire as the master of ceremonies. Cost for dinner only is $40.

Lightning softball tryouts: The Northern Illinois Lightning fastpitch softball organization will hold tryouts for the 2010-11 season on four dates in August. All tryouts will be held at Judson University in Elgin.

Tryouts for 14U and 16U players will be held Monday and Tuesday Aug. 9-10 from 5-7 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14-15 from 9-11 a.m. Tryouts for 16U, 18U and 18 & over players will be held Monday and Tuesday Aug. 9-10 from 7-9 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday Aug. 14-15 from 12-2 p.m. All players should bring their own equipment and water.
