Fair Tax is only way to rescue us
While George W. Bush is, like all of us, human, he is not to blame for Obama's lack of experience. Donna Brazile, in her July 13 column, incorrectly says Bush bailed out Wall Street in 2008 with a Republican Congress. The Democrats won back both houses in 2006. The Republicans lost both houses of Congress because they were acting like the big spending progressives that have dominated American politics since FDR took over after the 1932 election.
FDR prolonged the recession and turned it into a depression, using the same tactics and policies Mr. Obama is now pursuing.
Government simply cannot provide jobs. All government jobs are an expense and do not provide the essentials of life.
There are essential government jobs, and they were provided by the constitution: defense, treasury, police and teachers. But most of the rest is political apparatus and should be eliminated.
So, when they all blame Bush, my question is, where have they been the last two years? I'll tell you. They have been busy trying to make a socialist government work and over and over we have seen socialist governments fail, because it is against human nature and will always fail.
Less than 50 percent of those who filed tax returns last year paid any taxes, and indeed a lot of them got a refund even without paying any taxes. The earned income tax credit. We must scrap the current taxing system. A flat tax is as evadable as the progressive tax system we now have. The value added tax is too invisible and too cumbersome to administer. Leaving the Fair Tax the only workable taxing system to use to save the republic from the internal decay and failure of all the great democracies.
