'Historically large' meth bust in Kane County

Aurora police seized 545 grams of methamphetamine over the weekend from the home of a suspected drug dealer, authorities said Tuesday.

Martin A. Cazarez-Nunez, 35, was arrested late Saturday after police carried out a search warrant at his residence on the 1000 block of Indian Avenue.

Kane County prosecutors said the search turned up a "historically large" amount of meth for the area, along with smaller amounts of cocaine and marijuana. Police also recovered scales, guns and ammunition, according to the state's attorney's office.

Authorities said Cazarez-Nunez was not home during the search, but was taken into custody after driving by while officers were still on the scene. He was charged with meth possession and possession with intent to deliver, both Class X felonies, as well as possession of a controlled substance, cannabis possession, and possession of firearms and ammunition without a Firearm Owner's Identification card.

Cazarez-Nunez remained in the county jail Tuesday with bail set at $750,000. His next court date is Aug. 5 in front of Judge Allen Anderson.
