President needs public's support, cooperation now
In a recent letter, Karen Wagner wrote a letter in support of our president. I fully support everything she said and would like to add some comments.
President Barack Obama was voted into office with a wave of enthusiasm not seen in politics for many years. Cast your minds back to the situation he faced when he took over our country; what a dire state of affairs existed here and, indeed, in the world. Deflation and a shaky economy leading to a serious recession, falling house prices, chaos in the stock market and huge job losses. As Karen says, we should feel fortunate that someone with his ability and talent would take on such a tremendous task. If you look at him you can see the signs of stress.
Now that we are coming back from the brink of a depression, we should stop our complaining and realize that our support is needed once again to keep this wonderful leader in government. The Republicans in office should stop their complete lack of cooperation and put the welfare of this country and its people as their first priority. Unity is needed, and we must bring our troops home from the wars.
I believe this is a relevant sentiment at the time of year we celebrate our independence.
