Cops: Three Round Lake men charged robbed ex-roommate
Three Round Lake men have been charged with robbing their former roommate at knifepoint Monday in Richmond.
Chase Miller, 18, Christopher Elias, 20, and Ziyad Fowzi Rihani, 45, all from Round Lake, went to a motel in the 11000 block of N. Main Street in Richmond Monday night to confront their 20-year-old former roommate, said Det. Pam Hewett of the Richmond Police Department.
Hewett said the three allegedly were owed money by the victim, and went there to collect the funds.
The three were driven to the motel and dropped off, she said. The victim told police the three kicked the door in after he opened it up, then barged in wielding a knife.
He said the three took about $400 in cash and a cell phone, then forced the victim to drive them back to the townhouse in Round Lake the four once shared in the 200 block of Whispering Oaks Lane.
The victim went to police after driving the three back to the townhouse. Richmond police executed a search warrant on the townhouse with help from Round Lake police and found the victim's possessions.
All three were charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated unlawful restraint and burglary. Rihani was also charged with aggravated battery in a public place, Hewett said.
All three are in the McHenry County jail, officials said. Elias' bond was set at $175,000, Miller's bond was set at $125,000 and Rihani's bond was set at $150,000.
