Police search for woman who chased a juvenile
Last week, a juvenile was chased by a woman in Arlington Heights, and police released information on Wednesday hoping to calm down the rumor mill.
Around 9:30 p.m. on July 8, a car carrying five people cruised down the 2000 block of North Ridge Avenue, an Arlington Heights police news release said. A female passenger yelled at a juvenile to get out of the road. She then ran after the juvenile holding an object that looked like a knife, police said.
The woman eventually stopped and ran back to the sports car, which turned around and drove south on Ridge and then motored west on Harold Street. The silver car looked like a Chevrolet Camaro.
Since the incident, police have come across e-mails making false allegations, the news release stated. The false assumptions included the incident was gang related, the offender was mentally ill and that the woman attempted to stab the juvenile, police said. None of that is true, police said. They stressed that they continue to investigate and would release information when it becomes available.
Meanwhile, police search for the woman, described as white, 18 to 23 years old, about 5-foot-4 and weighing about 150 pounds. She was wearing capri pants and a tye-dyed shirt. Those with information should call Crime Stoppers at (847) 590-STOP or send an anonymous text to 847411. Tips could qualify for up to a $1,000 reward.
