Scouting report: Chicago Sky
San Antonio Silver Stars (6-10) at Chicago Sky (8-11)
When: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Allstate Arena
TV: CN100
Last time: On Thursday, San Antonio lost to the Lynx in Minneapolis (89-66); on Sunday, Sky lost to the Liberty in New York (57-54).
Skinny: It's an early start for the Sky and Silver Stars thanks to "Camp Day," a promotion in which boys and girls from summer camps all over the Chicago area will pack Allstate Arena to cheer and have fun- The Sky could use the emotional support after Sunday's disappointing loss in the "Big Apple." Up for much of the game, the Sky let the Liberty steal a victory in the final minutes. Sky turnovers led to easy New York layups and defensive rebounding lapses led to putbacks for the Liberty- All-star center Sylvia Fowles did her part on the boards for the Sky. She pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds to go along with 12 points- Guard Jia Perkins had her best scoring game of the season with 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field. No other player reached double-figures for the Sky against New York-The Sky will be playing eight of its next 11 games against Western Conference teams. That should be a good thing. Besides first-place Seattle, which leads the WNBA with a 16-2 record, no team in the Western Conference is above .500. Phoenix sits in second place in the conference at 7-11 and San Antonio is third at 6-10-The Silver Stars are led by three savvy veterans in Sophia Young (15.3 ppg), Becky Hammon (14.4 ppg) and Chamique Holdsclaw (12.7 ppg).
