Foster not a D.C. insider

We were astonished to read the grossly inaccurate statements about Congressman Bill Foster in a recent letter submitted by Robert and Sandra Wright. Their characterization of Foster as a "radical" indicates that they have not reviewed his voting record - a record that clearly reveals a solid moderate who, in fact, carefully scrutinizes legislation and continually communicates with the people, the businesses, and the local officials of his district to monitor their needs and the impacts of Washington decisions.

And the Wrights' reference to Foster as "a Washington insider" couldn't be further from the truth. The Congressman returns to the 14th District almost every weekend to participate in "Congress On Your Corner" sessions offering one-on-one time to any constituent with questions - at libraries, grocery stores, municipal offices, etc.

Congressman Foster's background as a scientist and a small-business man has provided him outstanding analytical and financial skills for understanding the needs and impacts of legislation. His integrity, independence, and commitment to communication with his constituents drive him to focus on the needs of the communities and people he serves - not the interests of corporate lobbyists.

We are independent voters who seek the best candidate for the job regardless of party. In our view, there is no question that Bill Foster is doing excellent work on behalf of our district - and we will be proud to cast votes for him. You can learn more about his background at www.billfoster.com or www.foster.house.gov - or feel free to ask us some questions. We're in the phone book.
