Your news: Advanced training for volunteer program managers

Starting Tuesday, Aug. 3, The Volunteer Center of Northwest Suburban Chicago (TVC) is offering an Advanced Excellence in Volunteer Management Training Series (EVMTS), featuring the latest resources, best practices and tools for taking a volunteer program to the next level. Taught from a real-world perspective, the series features strategies for effectively leveraging the skills of volunteers to achieve organizational goals.

The interactive series consists six courses taught over two days. Based on new materials from HandsOn Network and other leaders in the field, the courses cover everything from planning and improving a volunteer program to recruiting and retaining volunteers. A workbook of resources and templates is also provided. This series is meant for experienced volunteer coordinators who are looking to make their programs more efficient and effective. Interested attendees can also earn a certificate of achievement by completing the coursework.

The fee for the Advanced EVMTS is $360 for nonmember agencies, or $180 for TVC member agencies and AmeriCorps VISTAs. The sessions are from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 and Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the Forest View Education Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Rd., Arlington Heights. A free continental breakfast will be served each day and an hour break is included for lunch. Seating is limited.
