More demolition at Arlington, Golf roads

The Kitakata Japanese Restaurant has been demolished and next up is the Arlin-Golf Plaza - all part of Arlington Heights' plan to redevelop the northeast corner of Arlington Heights and Golf roads.

The building that held the Kitakata Japanese restaurant has been demolished, and the site is being cleaned up this week, said Dennis Bowe, superintendent of utilities for the village.

The Arlin-Golf Plaza just north of there will be torn down next week.

The village purchased the two sites with money from the Tax Increment District IV. The village is still in court condemning a third site on the corner that a gas station, and the owner, Steve Ragusi, tore that down in May under a court order.

The village has no immediate plans for the property but wants to get it ready for development when the economy makes that desirable, said Bill Enright, director of Planning & Community Development.

"It's a great corner with lots of traffic," said Enright.
