Dildy leaving UIC Flames for Chicago State's top job
Tracy Dildy, the associate head coach of the UIC Flames men's basketball team, has resigned to become the head men's coach at Chicago State.
Dildy is a 20-year veteran of the Division I coaching ranks, but this will be his first head coaching position.
"It's a bittersweet feeling," said Dildy. "UIC is my alma mater, and the people here have been nothing but great to me. It has made me into the person I am today. I will always have a place in my heart for UIC, and I am looking forward to this great opportunity."
"Tracy is certainly prepared to be a head coach," said UIC head coach Jimmy Collins. "He is an excellent coach who helped us a great deal the past three years. I had the opportunity to observe Tracy and see that he was not only a good recruiter, but a good all-around coach. We wish him the best in his new and well-deserved endeavor as a head coach."
Dildy spent the past three seasons on Collins' staff at UIC. He served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator since 2007 before he was elevated to associate head coach in 2009. Dildy also assisted programs at UAB, Mississippi, Auburn, DePaul and Ball State.
