Sharpton calls for Indianapolis officer firings

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Rev. Al Sharpton has called for more Indianapolis police officers to be fired over the injuries a 15-year-old boy suffered during an arrest.

Sharpton told a couple thousand people at Eastern Star Church Sunday night that the five officers involved should've been able to restrain the youth.

The May 16 disorderly conduct arrest left Brandon Johnson with severe facial cuts and bruises and a chipped tooth. Complaints have led to the city police chief to recommend that one officer be fired, with a reprimand for another.

Sharpton told the crowd that while there are bad police officers "we are not fighting for you to be a thug or a hood."
