This year, 11 dedicated seniors were named to the Senior Hall of Fame, an award that comes with a plaque and gratitude.

"The council always felt they wanted to honor every person who was nominated," explained Joyce Quilty, former president who was involved in the inception of the program in 1997.

Each year various organizations, churches and other locations where seniors may volunteer are asked for nominations. And there have been as many as 19 seniors honored in a given year.

The 2010 inductees were honored at a ceremony Thursday, June 10, at the Libertyville Civic Center. They all received a plaque and their pictures remain on display at the civic center for a year.

Following are the 2010 Hall of Fame inductees:

• Dorotha Betke (not pictured): Works on many of the committees and serves as treasure of the Ansel Brainerd Cook chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
