Man killed in southwestern Ill. ATV wreck

SHIPMAN, Ill. -- Authorities say a man was killed when the all-terrain vehicle he was riding crashed in southwestern Illinois' Macoupin County.

Macoupin County coroner Brad Targhetta says 22-year-old Joseph Stutz of Dorsey died of head injuries after the accident Saturday in a wooded area near Shipman.

Targetta says Stutz was riding the four-wheeler with friends but was alone at the time the crash happened on a wooded path.

The coroner says no autopsy will be performed, and no coroner's inquest is planned.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, followed by burial in Dorsey.
