Bicyclist killed in Beach Park

A bicyclist was killed late Sunday after he apparently rode in front of a van in Beach Park, Lake County sheriff's police said.

Sheriff's police Lt. Curt Gregory said the fatal crash happened about 9 p.m. on the southbound side of Sheridan Road at Chaney Avenue.

Gregory said a woman was driving a van south when the biker, wearing dark clothes, rode in front of her while heading north. He said it was raining when the incident occurred.

"He was coming right at her," Gregory said of the bicyclist.

Additional information was not immediately available because the police investigation was in its early stages.
