Right idea, wrong politician
The article written by Robert McCoppin in the Herald's July 6th edition titled "A bad case of loving himself" was very interesting, but I think that he got the name wrong. In his article he talked about narcissistic personality disorder and tied it to a very prominent Illinois politician. He referenced a forensic psychologist who outlined many traits that are associated with narcissism, like never being able to admit that one is wrong, a grandiose sense of self importance, preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited power, belief that one is special or unique, has a sense of entitlement, lacks empathy and shows arrogant, haughty behavior or attitudes/
As I thought about what Illinois politician displayed these characteristics, I remembered one Illinois politician who said that now that he is has been elected the oceans will stop rising and the Earth will begin to heal. That Illinois politician says the words "I," "me," "my," and "mine" more in every speech than Napoleon ever did. He said that he would heal the sick and introduce a new era of transparency and collaboration in government. But it wasn't Blagojevich that came to my mind as the supreme narcissist in chief as Mr. McCoppin suggested. It was a fellow named Obama.
