Pretty, but too tall for traffic
I would like to commend the city of Elgin on the beautification of the stretch of Wing Park Boulevard south of Wing Park. The center island with its trees, flowers and tall grasses is a delight to look at. I do have one problem with its beauty, though. Did anyone do a traffic study from side streets that turn onto Wing Park Boulevard?
I frequently turn onto the boulevard and the oncoming traffic is totally hidden from view by the tall flowers and grasses, almost totally obscured by the vegetation. I'm waiting for a serious accident to occur along that stretch of road. I think that I would have planted something that stays a little lower to the ground, not as high as a car's roof line.
