Libertyville students cap off school year with games, relays

Libertyville Elementary District 70 schools celebrated the end of another school year last month with Field Days.

Adler Park students kicked off their day with a group of fifth-graders singing the national anthem. Then, throughout the day, the students rotated through specific stations to participate in games. The Chicago Boyz Acrobats treated students to an assembly in the gym.

Butterfield students spent their day in a variety of athletic games and sports.

"Our goal for the day is maximum participation in the maximum amount of time," said physical education teacher Pat Krech. "Team challenges, individual skills and fun are the focus of all our events. Teachers, staff, parents, administration and the students all work together to make this one of the best days of the year."

Field Day for Copeland Manor School involved 18 games and activities focusing on different collaborative activities that encourage teamwork and good sportsmanship. At Rockland School, there were 17 stations, including three water stations, "big feet relay" and "clothespin samurai."

The celebration is always a thrill at Highland Middle School. Field Days for sixth-and seventh-graders included award celebrations, karaoke, a sixth-grade dance, kickball, board games and yearbook signing.
