Lake County briefs
Finance committee to meet:The Lake County Board's financial and administrative committee will meet Wednesday to discuss adding the county to the Northwest Water Planning area, as well as other business. The planning group is a voluntary organization tasked with implementing a clean water availability plan. The meeting is set for 1 p.m. at the county headquarters in downtown Waukegan.Police vote in Grayslake:Grayslake village trustees are to vote Tuesday on a pending deal to provide police service for neighboring Hainesville. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at village hall, 10 S. Seymour Ave. Under the plan, Grayslake police would create a fifth patrol beat to cover Hainesville around the clock under a three-year contract. Hainesville would pay $596,000 and a $25,000 startup fee to Grayslake for service through the fiscal year that ends April 30. Hainesville officials said they hope Grayslake cops can start patrolling their streets around July 15. Hainesville expects to save about $300,000 this year by eliminating its 2-year-old police department and contracting for service from Grayslake. Hainesville village board members approved the contract with Grayslake last week.Become a highway commissioner:Avon Township government is seeking a replacement for Highway Commissioner Patrick Anderson, who has departed the elected position.
