Milk Jug Boat Regatta to welcome all families

The Village of Antioch along with Northbridge Church will be holding the 3rd annual Family Milk Jug Boat Regatta on Saturday, July 10.

All boats will be built on site the day of the event, and all teams must bring their own tools. All boats will be sailed during the event and a minimum of two sailors will ride each boat.

"This is a fantastic event for both those who participate and those who come to watch this event," said Shawn Roby manager of business development and special events. "Each year our attendance grows between spectators and participants."

The previous two years the event was called the Father Son Milk Jug Boat Regatta, but this year organizers changed it to the Family Boat Regatta.

"The biggest reason for the name change was we have had quite a few families come down and participate and we decided to just encourage everyone to participate," said Roby.

The regatta will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pederson Park, on Route 173. This cost of this event is $25 a team and includes lunch and building materials. The event is limited to the first 35 teams to register, and substitute families are welcome.

To participate all are encouraged to preregister at the Antioch Parks and Recreation office at 806 Holbek Drive in Antioch.
