Palatine man charged with aggravated DUI

A Palatine man was charged with aggravated DUI and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, along with misdemeanor unlawful possession of cannabis, driving on a revoked license and resisting a peace officer, after Arlington Heights police stopped him early Saturday morning.

Theodore Larson, 47, of the 200 block of Park Lane, has two prior DUI convictions, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jennifer Walsh at Larson's bond hearing Saturday in Rolling Meadows.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Anthony Iosco set Larson's bond at $100,000. He will have to post $10,000 to be released from custody.

Police stopped Larson for traffic violations about 1:15 a.m. in the vicinity of Arlington Heights Road and Cypress Street, said Walsh.

Larson was unable to produce proof of a driver's license or insurance and he refused to exit the vehicle and had to be removed from it, Walsh said.

After refusing to perform field sobriety tests, Larson was handcuffed and taken to the police department, where he also refused a Breathalyzer test, Walsh said.

Police recovered a leather pouch from the vehicle containing two bags with what authorities suspect is cocaine, one baggie containing what authorities suspect is cannabis, and drug paraphernalia including a brass pipe and a scale, Walsh said.

Convicted of DUI in 2002 and 2006, Larson also has a 2000 conviction for driving on a suspended license, Walsh said.

He next appears in court on July 30.
