Mundelein man charged with theft in two-year-old incident
A 44-year-old Mundelein man has been charged with a theft for an incident which authorities say occurred more than two years ago at a Palatine car dealership where he worked as a finance and insurance manager.
Authorities say Kurt Kim, of the 25000 block of North Arrowhead, deposited into his personal account a customer's check for $5,000 meant for Arlington Lexus. Kim convinced the customer to leave the 'pay to the order of' section blank on the signed check and later filled in his own name, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jennifer Walsh at Kim's bond hearing Saturday in Rolling Meadows. His bond was $25,000.
Kim, who has no criminal background, gave a statement to police admitting the theft, Walsh said. He next appears in court on July 22.
